Hello-
I know someone who has German WWII silverware that was supposedly taken from a press train. He sent me some pics- unfortunately the pic with the hallmarks is blurry- but what I’m really wondering is if anyone has info on how to verify the story based on the numbers on the silverware. They are marked 251, and my understanding is that all the officials and trains and what not in the regime were associated with unique numerical markings. Any information, or advice on where to look for info, would be appreciated.

I can give a part answer. The D and R do mean “Deutsche Reichsbahn” as the National German Railways used to be called.
