We have found this item in my father in laws goods. It’s in need of repair as it’s in 3 pieces. It was gifted to his great grandmother in Sydney, Australia. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks
An item like this will definitely have some marking from the manufacturer. If you find one, send it here and someone will definitely tell you who made the piece and where it came from. There is also something engraved on the base.
Agreed. And what’s important are clear, sharp closeup images of any markings, especially those on the underside. The “dedication” inscription will probably also provide useful dating information.
No one will be able to identify the object just from its shape and outward appearance - decorative silverplate objects were produced in their millions.
