HI I have what I think is a French spoon/ladle with hallmarks. I have trawled the internet trying to find out what they are but are unable to can anyone please help many thanks
French marks are not my field of expertise or interest but I suspect that these are electroplate marks; French electroplate marks are square and silver makers’ marks are in a diamond or lozenge shape. The mark with 18 (and GRS?) shows how much silver has been used in the plating process of the whole set (possibly 6 items), and the other mark is the maker’s mark. I do not know of a comprehensive reference for these marks.
