Unknown Maker Help Please

I have two beautiful sauce boats one with clear marks the other only partial. It looks like Logan Stewart and it has LS initials too… the ‘crest’ I have no idea what it’s supposed to be. It also says Plate so I assume they are silver plated. They look splendid with no plate wear.

Can anyone identify the maker for me. I have hunted online but to no avail. I’ve no idea where they were made either!

Another photo of the mark

Very nice sauce boats.

This should be easy, given how distinctive the mark is. But it isn’t! I’ve done a lot of online searching, and I’ve come up just as empty as you did. The hunt continues…

Is this a deer head and “L S” letters underneath?

That’s certainly what it looks like (a stag’s head, to be more accurate). But that still doesn’t help, does it?

I like your sarcasm.

I’m just puzzled by your post, which doesn’t seem to get us any closer to solving the mystery. I’ve already done a lot of searching for “LS” with a stag or deer, and have come up empty.

I think it is a special mark belonging to the owner of the item or an engraved gift. The handle resembles Hukin & Heath products.

Why would an owner’s mark or an engraved gift specify that it was “plate?” Doesn’t that seem rather odd?

There is no information about Logan Stewart. The plot is enigmatic…

Just want to say thanks for your help… even if it’s to no avail … yet!!!
The crest is very odd… I can’t really make it out… the name sounds Scottish but maybe an emigre…

The sauce boats are excellent quality which makes it odd not to find the maker… certainly up there with the likes of Hukin and Heath….

… it’s intriguing!

I found a similar vessel in my collection (without any signature) and I suspect it is Mappin & Webb.
