Reading Hallmark

Hello joeythegem here…I have a piece of silver that has an unusual hallmark…if anyone knows about this maker please let me know…silver plate or sterling?

Very old.

L B S A (with Iron Cross between the B and S ( LB*SA ) 314

That is all that is marked on this piece.

Thank everyone!

Probably Levesley Brothers of Sheffield and it’s silver plate.

I have a piece with the same markers. Was there anymore info?

It’s now certainly a Levesley Brothers electroplate mark. See Silverplate Marks L - Online Encyclopedia of Silver Marks, Hallmarks & Makers' Marks.

Guess this will help

Hi! I have one with a similar mark, we’re trying to figure out if its silver plate?

It’s electroplated. “L B S” is Levesley Brothers of Sheffield. The crown indicates that it must have been made before the mid-1890’s (although probably not long before) when the crown was banned on electroplate.
