Origins of this silver pill box

Being a novice I cannot decipher this hallmark; hoping the wonderful experts on this site may be able to assist? I bought it from one of the Silver Vaults in London nearly 50 years ago.Cheers Margo (from Australia)

Your box has a Birmingham sterling silver hallmark with the date letter h for the assay year 1907/08. It has the maker’s/sponsor’s mark HM of Henry Matthews of Vittoria Street, Birmingham.

As your box has a pierced lid I wonder if it is for pot pourri rather than pills?
