need some help with identifaction on this bowl, most propably 1873 Birmingham.
The makers mark is a bit confusing, never seen this before. Wonder if it might be an usual Mappin & Webb hallmark. Never seen the separately stamped M and Bros
It’s a new one for me too but my reference book tells me it’s the mark of Mousley Brothers & Wood, registered at the Birmingham Assay Office in September 1873. The date letter Y is the assay year 1873/74.
appreciate your help. Nice to add to the context, since it’s a rather rare piece already. It was presented by Earl & Countess of Bective, Underley Hall estate.
