Irish Free State Era silver

Found along with some plated items but marks for Irish Made, the Irish trademark of the Irish free state (see link) and then Banba Silver. Banba is also a character from Irish folklore but presumably the firm. Has anyone any more idea of the firms history and whether this is silver?

If it was silver it would have an Irish hallmark. So it’s most likely a base metal alloy like nickel silver.

I agree that’s most likely. Do you know of any cases of firms not using the old hallmarking system following the separation of what would become R o Ireland from Britain, Phil? A form of statement of independence is what I was considering

No, I don’t know of any although some provincial makers may have continued to mark with just “sterling”.
