Hi can anyone interpret the hallmark picture I have is is silver plate and date if possible many thanks
I believe you were asking if this is silver plate. Yes, it is. The EP in the shield shows that it is electroplate. Therefore, strictly speaking, the mark is not a hallmark as hallmarks, by definition, are applied to precious metal objects by an independent testing body; this is a manufacturer’s mark, the mark of W W Harrison of Sheffield. This company was in operation from the 1850s until about 1918. I would date this mark to the 1880-1890 period. It cannot be later than the very early 1890s as the use of a crown mark on electroplate was outlawed at that time.
