Can anyone idetify the hallmarks and let me know a little bit about them. I’ve got 12 fish knives and 12 forks in the set
Silverplate from Elkington & Co. The crown that appears in the large cartouche indicates that it’s from prior to 1897. After 1896, it was illegal to use the crown symbol on anything other than sterling silver from Sheffield.
Your mark also includes a date letter using a system devised by Elkington themselves. It is the letter in the diamond shape and comes from a cycle of letters used from 1849 to 1864. Unfortunately I cannot see what the letter is but you may be able to work out the date using this reference: Elkington electroplate and silver plate: marks, hallmarks and date letters

Looks like “P” to me, which would plant it at 1854.
