Hi I have found these “tongues” and wonder if anyone could tell me what they are and what the hallmark means please.
Your tongs are electroplated (EP), not silver. The maker, S&F, is not known to me. The letters L and B may stand for London and Birmingham as normal usage among electroplaters is that they tend to use the initial of the town in which they are situated as part of their marking.

Thanks Phil. Can you tell me the age and what they were used for? Also what does the star represent?
As I cannot identify the manufacturer I am unable to suggest a likely date. The star is probably part of their trademark with no particular significance.
Tongs are used to get sugar cubes into tea or coffee cups, but could be re-purposed to serve things such as olives.
