The only marks it has are the 1860-1900 Flag along with some numbers and etched what I assume are insurance marks? No other hallmarks anywhere, and it’s a basket style I haven’t seen before! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Unless there are some proper sterling hallmarks on it, it’s certainly silverplate. But if there are hallmarks, they might not be on the bottom. Take a close look around the underside of the rim, for example. If they’re there, they will be fairly tiny!
BTW, the lack of a date letter suggests that it’s prior to 1885. But dating silverplate is notoriously difficult, since marking the items was strictly at the whim of the maker.
