Help With Date Letter On Silver Napkin Ring

Hi, I’ve got a silver napkin ring, assayed in Chester, maker: Charles Horner, but cannot work out wha the date mark is. Is it an ‘S’ or an ‘I’ or even a ‘g’. I’ve looked at date marks, considered the shape of the shield, but still cannot work it out. To confuse matters the letter is on its side, which usually means it 1790’s or before doesn’t it? Or have I got that wrong. So confused! Can anyone help please?

Liz

It’s an S, so 1918/19. Chester date letters often appeared on their sides at this period - I’m not sure why.
