Requesting assistance with identifying markers on small box.
The seller advised me that the box is: silver, originated from England, and a few hundred years old. I do not know if any of the mentioned details are true; but, I fell in love with the box and purchased it regardless.
I found 3 markers, including what looks like an N and possibly a crowned A.
I also found 2 erroneous marks XIIII; I am not sure if they are relevant or not.
Any information that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.
It is Hanau, Germany. The maker is Neresheimer, and the date is after 1893, when he began his operation. Do not be hard on the seller as it was made to look old.
Thank you for the response @GeorgeS as it is greatly appreciated. I at least now know the maker and approximate date.
Would you be able to advise on an approximate value for this particular box? I will understand if you cannot.
