Help Identify Flag Stand

British Silver What is it?

Hi all

I recently acquired a flag stand that appears to be silver plated, Or is silver. A magnet will not stick to it and it is marked O.S.P. 40. Any information on it’s age or manufacturer would be appreciated.

Possibly OSP = Old Sheffield Plate.

Hi

I took it in to a local coin shop and they tested it with acid. It removed some of the tarnishing, and did not react. Here is a photo of the shaft unscrewed from the base and the area of tarnish that the acid took off…
