Im completely new at this so please excuse if I’m being completely dim!
I’ve brought a spoon in pretty rough condition but i believed it was silver. I thought it was a Sheffield fiddleback Georgian spoon but now im not so sure. I can’t find any hallmarks that matches the crown and now believe the s hallmark just stands for silver.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
This is electroplate, not silver. The Alpha trade mark was originally used by the Sheffield company Harrison Brothers & Howson until 1923 when the name was acquired by Viners Ltd, also of Sheffield. I think that this is a Viners version of the trade mark.
The Sheffield Assay Office’s crown mark is completely different in form.

Thanks so much. I found the same hallmarks now i know what im looking for
