Does L&B stand for Larder & Burgess... or someone else?

The only reference I can find for an L&B, is the Sheffield based Larder & Burgess. But searches appear to indicate they make flatware… knives etc.

Is this simple, but lovely silver plated coffee pot by them? And would the shape and rope band designs date this to roughly 1900 to 1910s?

I’m still learning so any insights would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Simon

Another L&B electroplater is Lingard & Baker of Birmingham but none of the L&B marks illustrated by silvercollection.it match the marks on your coffee pot. From a style point of view I would say that the pot could have been made at any time in the last 150 years. It gives the feeling of that somewhat lazy description “hotel ware”.

Silver Tea Pots : r/Antiques

Thanks Phil… yes, I’d considered Lingard & Baker as well, but not similar enough. I guess ‘Hotel ware’ means a step up from utilitarian, but not high end? Although, I’d love to stay at a hotel using this type of silverware!

Thank you for the link… it proves they did make tea and coffee pots, along with flatware. Just wish dating these pieces wasn’t so vague and confusing…
