What’s the best way to clean or polish a sterling silver picture frame that has not been coated or otherwise treated to prevent or resist tarnishing. The frame is 8-by-10 and has a mahagony wood backing. The silver and backing cannot be separated to facilitate cleaning/polishing and eliminate the risk of damage to the wood. Many websites suggest cleaning/polishing methods that require rinsing the frame with water or using a liquid polish or mild detergent. Isn’t this risky with a wood backing?
Southpaw,
Can you please upload a clear image/s of the frame and I’ll try to walk you through the cleaning process?
