We were given these spoons some 20+ years ago. There is no hallmark to be found. We were told they were a family heirloom, so guess they are pretty old. Has anyone any ideas please?
You say there are no hallmarks - are there any marks at all? No marks lead me to think that these are at best electroplate. However, somebody has gone to the trouble of providing them with a nice box so I would certainly expect some sort of marking. They probably date from the first part of the 20th century.
Thank you for your reply. I have very carefully checked the spoons and can see no signs of a marking. Is there a particular part of the spoon where a mark is likely to be found? Do you think they may have come from abroad?
marks are most likely on the backside of the spoons - and I am sure that they are there. look carefully
